Helping Families Get the Most Out of Tax Time
Make Tax Time Pay is a volunteer-run initiative that assists individuals and families with lower incomes to get their taxes done for free. Our 28 community-based tax sites are located across the city during March & April each year. People with lower income need to do their taxes to receive government rebates and benefits such as GST, the Canada Child Tax Benefit, and extended health care subsidies.
For many, if they do not complete their taxes, they cannot access benefits and subsidies they may be entitled to. These benefits can result in healthier children through access to dental care, optical care and prescription medications. Also, for people with limited access to recreation there is free admission into city swimming pools, arenas and other city facilities through the City of Edmonton Leisure Access Pass. Make Tax Time Pay helps connect people to the services they are entitled to.
