E4C - Changing Lives - Growing Communities

The Women Moving Forward Program (WMF) addresses pre-employment readiness for homeless women residing at E4C's shelter programs: the Women's Emergency Accommodation Centre (WEAC) and Elizabeth House.

The goals of the program are to support women to:

Achieve stability in their lives by addressing issues contributing to their homelessness
Facilitate their access to and use of existing government and community programs which can help them achieve stability and enhance their employment readiness
Access training and ultimately find and maintain sustainable employment

WMF utilizes an individualized and holistic approach to increase participants' capacity to become self-sufficient to the greatest degree possible, while acknowledging multiple barriers faced by the women using E4C's shelter programs. Program services are guided by individual assessment, service planning and outreach support addressing any or all of the following components:

Getting started by changing personal circumstances
Cultural connections
Employment and life management skills
Specific work skills training
Job placement and support with sustaining employment
Independent life management

WMF is delivered in partnership with Alberta Employment and Industry and Metis Nation of Alberta.
